Like all of Kobold’s books on Game Gujde, it is system neutral and frequently compares the successes of the different games’ approaches to certain issues. The book is marketed as a tool for building worlds for tabletop RPGs with the aside that it should be useful for purposes like mine as well.

Excellent guide to designing game worlds from a selection of top designers. I also felt like these were some of the essays most translatable to worldbuilding for fiction writing and just generally the most useful worldbuilding essays in the book on actually making your world interesting and fun.


I would have preferred an essay on how to adapt a Shared World, like Golarion or Dark Sun, for home use, but virtually none of the advice here helps me.
